SYFA to Continue Participation in the Associations Cup
We are delighted to announce that the Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) will once again take part in the annual Associations Cup. This June, a boys’ 2012 age group squad will travel to Limerick, Ireland, to proudly represent the Association.
As a founding member of the Associations Cup, SYFA has previously hosted the tournament at Inverclyde on two occasions. This competition is a fantastic opportunity, bringing together youth associations from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, and Scotland. Each association is represented on the organising committee, making this event not only a great experience for the selected players but also a valuable platform for associations to share best practice and discuss common challenges.
At the start of this season, all Regions were invited to confirm whether they would run volunteer-led regional teams and submit requests to the SYFA Board for partial funding support. This year, only the SYFA West Region came forward, declaring their intention to operate Regional Squads. As a result, their 2012 squad will proudly represent SYFA at the Associations Cup 2026. To help cover some of the region’s travel and accommodation costs, funding will be provided by the Scottish Youth Football Development Trust.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the West Region’s volunteers and coaches for agreeing to represent SYFA in this year’s tournament. Your dedication and commitment make opportunities like this possible.
We also wish the players the very best of luck and hope they enjoy this amazing and valuable experience. We will be following the squad’s journey to Ireland and keeping everyone updated on their progress in June via our social media channels.
