User Permissions
The SFA COMET Team are pleased to confirm that upgrades to user roles and user management have now been completed .
These upgrades bring some important changes to the way in which clubs administer permissions to relevant users. In addition, a new set of streamlined roles have replaced the previous club roles.
What are the new roles?
1. Club Manager
This is essentially an amalgamation of the previous ‘club referent’ and ‘user creator’ roles.
Club Managers have oversight of the entire club. They can view the club’s players, coaches, officials and teams, and amend all editable details (including the submission and termination of registrations and contracts). They can also apply for competitions on behalf of their club’s teams.
Club managers cannot add other club managers but can add all of the roles list below.
2. Club Registration Manager
Club Registration Managers can create, submit and terminate registrations for amateur players and coaches/officials across the entire club. They can also view the club’s existing players & coaches/ officials and add them to competition catalogues. Club Registration Managers cannot view contracts (applies to professional clubs only) or upload transfer information.
3. Club Lineup Manager (Club Level)
Club Lineup Managers with club level access can add confirmed, eligible players and officials to teamlines across the entire club but have very limited access to other player/official information. They cannot add players to a catalogue, so for competitions using mandatory catalogues, the club manager or club registration manager must add to catalogues before the club lineup manager can confirm on a teamline.
Club Lineup Managers can also apply for competitions on behalf of their club’s teams.
4. Club Lineup Manager (Team Level)
Club Lineup Managers with team level access are linked to a specific team (or teams).
They can add confirmed, eligible players and officials to teamlines for the team(s) they are linked to but have very limited access to other player/official information. They cannot add players to a catalogue, so for competitions using mandatory catalogues, the club manager or club registration manager must add to catalogues before the club lineup manager can confirm on a teamline.
Club Lineup Managers at team level can also apply for competitions on behalf of the specific team(s) to which their user role is linked.
How do these updated roles reflect our previous roles?
Anyone who previously had both ‘club referent’ and ‘user creator’ roles now has the club manager role
Anyone who had ‘club referent’ role only now has club registration manager and club lineup manager role
There are no changes to those who had club registration manager and or club lineup manager (club/team) roles.
How do Club Managers Edit Permissions?
To add or remove club registration manager and/or club lineup manager (club/team) roles please use the guides below.
Scottish Football Association Self Service Portal – Add User Permissions to a New User
Scottish Football Association Self Service Portal – Add User Permissions to an Existing User
To add or remove a club manager role, please raise a ticket using the link at the bottom of the user guides and the Scottish FA will action this on your club’s behalf. Please note requests for club manager changes must be submitted by the existing club secretary (or other relevant users who had the club referent and user creator roles prior to this change).
What do we do about users no longer at the club?
Please remember that on COMET, person registrations and user roles are not connected.
However, a person must have a confirmed registration in order to be given user roles.
A confirmed registration does not automatically provide user access to COMET Admin; this must be issued separately, after an individual’s registration at the club has been confirmed.
Similarly, a cancelled registration does not automatically cancel user access, so this must be removed before cancelling a registration, if an individual leaves the club.
In the case of departing individuals with the ‘club manager’ role, a ticket should raised and the Scottish FA will action this request.
