Giffnock Soccer Centre Thistle 1996s 0-5 Spartans Football Club 1996s
After a long, hard cup run for either team this year the moment they have been waiting for
arrived. They walked out on the pitch at the Excelsior Stadium and served up a great match which will have sent all spectators home happy. At full time, Spartans had run out comfortable winners. They were by far the better side from the off and played some lovely football across the ninety minutes. Their performance was well worthy of Scottish champions and they deserve to lift the cup at the end of the match.
Glenafton Athletic 1994s 0-4 Bonnyton Thistle FC 1994s
Sunday’s Scottish Challenge Cup Final between the two Ayrshire sides was always expected to be a strongly contested game with a prestigious and nationally recognised trophy as the prize on
offer. Bonnyton were recognised for their fluid passing style and Glenafton by their solid and clinical approach whilst the line-ups carried experience into the game from Pro Youth and
previous Challenge Cup Finals. At full time Bonnyton had run out deserved victors and their direct play and clinical finishing could have got them even more goals in a game of many opportunities.
